Desert Botanical Garden

Last week we did a mini unit on the Monarch butterfly and it's migration habits to Mexico.

At Desert Botanical Gardens here in Arizona, they have a Monarch Butterfly Exhibit right now and are also studying their migration habits.

In the spring, we will do a more thorough study of order Lepidoptera (butterflies, moths, and skippers).

And so, on Sunday, we went to Desert Botanical Gardens, signed up for a membership, experienced the Monarch exhibit, and attended their Pumpkin Festival where the kids got a free pumpkin. We will carve them later this week (mostly so we can roast those fabulous seeds... oh, yum, yum, yum!)
We discovered this and a couple of other blooms, but the desert is not in bloom yet, Mom.
We will let you know when! :-)

After the Gardens we went to the store and purchased a digital antenna for the TV. When we got home Mr. Cookie installed it...
while Mini Chip and I took a little nap... he is just sooo snuggly!
We woke just in time for the Vikings game kickoff!
Baby's first football game!
(Yes, it is sooo sad it is the 10th game of the season, but...)
What a GREAT game to watch!!
Sucks the Vikes didn't win, but it was entertaining to watch! :-)
